WESTERN GHATS

Older than the Himalayas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Western Ghats is a mountain range that runs parallel to the west coast of India (from Gujarat for 990 miles to Kanyakumari, at the southern tip of India).  It is one of the world’s leading ‘biological diversity hotspots’ and is home to thousands of species of flowering and non-flowering plants and hundreds of bird, mammal, amphibian, freshwater and insect species.
Situated in Sakleshpur (Hassan District), in the foothills of the Western Ghats, NIRVRTA Estate covers five acres of beautiful hill land, with natural water sources, trees, plants and spectacular views.
The buildings on NIRVRTA Estate are made from locally gathered materials and we have tried to honour the rural and idyllic charm of the location, with beautiful rustic style structures (with modern facilities).
During retreats at NIRVRTA guests stay in our beautiful house and can enjoy practising traditional Ashtanga yoga on the sweeping veranda (overlooking the Western Ghats). There are plenty of hangout areas and places to relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
